Cedar Hill Cemetery, previously known as Forest Lake Cemetery, and also formerly Nonesuch Plantation, is a cemetery located in Suitland, Maryland. Its current name was implemented in 1913. It is over 150 acres in size and the oldest tombstone reads "Philenia W. Patte, Nov. 19, 1871, 58 years".
With records dating back to 1904, Cedar Hill Cemetery is located west of the National Capitol on the MD-DC line. The grounds have rolling hills, a pond with a bridge, and hundreds of species of trees and plants, including dogwood trees, cherry trees, and azaleas. There is also an Annie Lauren Wishing Chair and several concrete sculptures done by Dionicio Rodriguez, a Mexican builder and artist, during 1936-1938. Hinton Helper, the U.S. Ambassador for Abraham Lincoln, is buried here, as well as several congressman, senators, supreme court justices, a professional baseball player, and victims of the 1906 Terra Cotta train wreck.
Cedar Hill Cemetery offers traditional ground burials, lawn crypts, three mausoleums (two from the early 1900s), cremation burial, a pet cemetery, and private mausoleums.
