Landscape architect, Carlisle C. Butler, founded Westhampton Memorial Park in September 1954. Born in Richmond and a lifelong resident of the area, Carlisle was assisted at Westhampton Memorial Park by his wife, Doris Newton Butler.
The Butler family created a master plan for the park, which was believed to be unparalleled in cemetery history at the time: the creation and development of beautiful memorial gardens that depicted the history of the Christian faith in chronological order, beginning with the Bible in the Garden of the Word. The story these gardens tell lives on today as a shrine of perpetual loveliness dedicated to the memory of loved ones passed. Each feature was carved from rock sourced in the same quarry Michelangelo used to carve his famous statue of David.
While they have a rich history of serving Christian families, they are happy and honored to serve families from all backgrounds and faith traditions with a trademark Virginia hospitality.
Family buried at Westhampton Memorial Park include:
m. = maiden name
h1. = surname of first husband
